My choice would be in the rootsweb (are you familiar with this?) HAMMOND list. (you would have to join the list for a brief time at least, to do this) , or at a list covering the geographical area of interest. (rootswebhas those, too).
go to www.rootsweb.com, and scroll down til you see on the left hand side, "index". clidk that on, and then you can look for surnames or countries.
You may also want to go to Cyndi'slist and get to you region of interest that way. she will lead you to whatever boards exist for that area, and you don't have to sign up ofor thj mail lists if youj don't want.
