Elam Waddel, a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister, on 1850 Census for Attala/MS. He is 44/GA (b. 1806/Clarke/GA, son of John S. Waddell b.~1766 and Mary Rosanna Stephenson. John S. is the son of William Waddell.) Enumerated with Elam is his wife, Margaret 41/KY (Margaret Reed Campbell, daughter of Thomas Campbell and Margaret Polly Reed). Also enumerated are their children to date: William P. 18/TN Nancy L. 16/TN (m. 14Mar1861 Jefferson/AR to Harvey Hamilton) Robert H. 12/MS (Robert H. Waddell is listed on the 1880 Census in Miners Creek/Hempstead/AR with his family as follows: Harriett W. 41/VA, Annie B. 8/AR, Robert H. 5/AR, William T. 3/AR and Honsford H. 1/AR. His parents are both listed as being b. TN.) Sarah F. 14/MS. (m. ~1859 William Yeargin/MS). Also in my notes I have Elam Benton Waddell b. 7Dec1841/Attala/MS. I have no source for this. I apologize to the author for not taking better notes. The Town of Athens, Clarke/GA has Dr. Moses Waddell, President of the University of GA 1819-1829 buried at Old Athens Cemetery. His house is of historic interest. From this forum, Moses Waddell established and taught at Willington Academy/SC from 1804-1819. Notify Administrator about this message?
