I have researched a line of Waddles also from southwestern VA that ended up in MO. The line I have traced is from Albejance Waddle, brother of Alexander and son of (Robert?), born about 1800. Both lived where Wythe, Bland, Giles, and Pulaski counties in VA currently intersect, area previously a part of Botetourt county. Alexander settled in Mercer county (now in WV).
Albejance (Alby), I recently discovered, moved to Missouri and appears in Livingston MO in the 1850 census. He was hard to find since he was listed in the Ancestry.com index as Wodder. Finding him is one of my prouder genealogical moments. I realize Livingston isn't remotely close to Ash Grove, but was wondering if there could be a connection.
