I have a John B. Waddle, with very sketchy information to flesh him out, might this be the same one you are looking for? John B. Waddle, b. around 1787, in Eastern, TN, d. after 1884, Mercer Co., KY, wife was named Mary (Polly), b. 1795, possibly TN, only known descendent (to me) is William Wallace Waddle b. 8-30-1821 (m. Sarah Catherine Huff 7-29-1847), sure there were others. Wiliam W. and Sarah C. had about 12 children. Is Polly a common nickname for a woman named Mary or something? This is about the fourth or fifth ancestor I have who is referred to as both Mary and Polly. William Wallace and Sarah Catherine Waddle have a daughter, as well, with the name listed as "Mary A.(Polly)Waddle" Polly Waddle, say it fast... now that's funny.
