As a hobby, I rescue old photos from antique shops, auctions and estate sales. On a recent auction, I obtained two photos, of a Ida Waide of Nicholasville/Nicholsville, KY. On the back of one, is an inscription: Mrss Ida Waide, Nicholasville, KY. Daughter of Mr and Mrs. D.S. Waide. A life sized painting of Miss Waide is on exhibition in the Copley Art Gallery, Boston, as a Southern Beauty and Miss Waide is an accomplished musician. W. B. Gryson. Also under this writing is evidence that there was, at one time a third pose by this subject-as it bled onto the back of one of the other ones. They were probably stored stacked and the image transferred to the back of another one. This also happened to the back of the other portrait, but not with as much detail. My guess is these were taken in the late 1800s. She's dressed in a long skirt, blouse with puffy sleeves and a hat-holding a parasol in one, and in the other one she's removed the had, and besides the parasol she's holding a small purse. I only ask what I paid for the, postage and the expense of a mailer, that will protect it in the mail. Contact me at: digginroots@yahoo.com All I ask is what I paid for it, postage and the cost of a sturdy mailer. (The mailer is uaually about $1.)
