Hello Virgil. My interest in the Wade family comes from my anscestor Samuel Swearingen Jr. lived in Anson Co. from 1765 until about 1779 at which time he moved to Burke Co., N. Carolina. When he moved he took 3 of his 4 sons with him, but left behind his son Van Swearingen. Van had 2 sons the older one was named Hugh. Hugh moved to Jackson Co., Tennessee. Hugh's wife Precilla died after giving birth to her seventh son. This son was named Wade. I can pretty much tell who all of Hugh's other sons were named after but not Wade. I do not know the maiden name of Wades mother Precilla nor do I know the name of Hughs mother. However I do know that there were a lot of Wades in Anson Co. and that they were prominent citizens there. I also know that Van Swearingen in the 1790 census lived just a couple of households away from Jane Wade and not far from her son Holden. I also know that, in Jackson Co., TN, Hugh lived not far from a Downey or Dowery Wade. I am trying to determine if there is a connection there. I have found no other connection between Hugh and the Wades so I suspect either his wife of mother may have been a Wade. Do you have any information of the female Wades born 1750-1785 and who they married, especially those descended from Jane and/or Holden or any of Holden's brothers.
