Loraine, I've given this more thought: I found Benjamin (Sr) Wade's widow Elizabeth L. in the 1830 census of Jasper Co., GA. Both William L(?Louis) Wade and his father Benjamin were deceased in 1827. So perhaps the land grant in Jasper Co., was given to Benjamin's widow & children. Otherwise, the Benjamin with Hamlin Louis Wade in Hancock for the 1827 lottery would have been more likely Benjamin Jr. I haven't tried to get to lottery work papers or actual grant materials in GA, and wonder if such might still be available. Hope you have some ideas. Haven't yet found Benjamin Jr, or his brother James Y. Incidentally, since James A. Wade was not literate, we may not know his true age based on census records. I don't recall "Benjamin" being used among his grandchildren, so being William L.'s son is possible, but I think more like that he was the James Y.'s son (son of Benj), which is why we need to get to the actual workpapers for settlement of Benjamin Sr's estate in 1824 in Jasper Co., GA. I have not yet found it on-line. If I have to, I will take a trip to Jasper Co., but it would have to be in a couple of months. Look at posting # 6672 & 6673 for one of my recaps on children of Benjamin Wade, if you have not done so. And if you will click on the "Last 10 days" in the Wade GenForum, you should get all my recent postings. Regards & hope you are feeling better. W. Ray Walker Notify Administrator about this message?
