For some reason, my ancestor James A. Wade & his 2nd wife Elizabeth left Talbot Co., GA about 1870 and went to Carroll Co., but I believe Coweta Co., GA. As told by cousin Loraine Haygood, they went in a covered wage to Bartow Co., GA.in time for the 1880 census. Reference Waid, instead of Wade. There were no Waid's in 1870 in Carroll or Coweta Co., GA. However in the 1850 census of Coweta apparently only a fragment survived, and these were the Waid's: Catharine 15; Jeremiah F 12; John H. 10; Nancy A. T. In the 1870 census of Bartow Co., GA, there was a Benjamin Waid b 1820. He was dead by 1880. He fits being the son of Benjamin Wade d 1824 in Jasper Co., GA. Benjamin (jr) would be the first cousin of James A. Wade b 1820. That Benjamin left a bunch of children, apparently married later, and could be why James A. went to Bartow Co, GA, as did a daughter and husband. Now you know what I do. Perhaps someone can help piece this further. It appears that James A. Wade's mother, Elizabeth and her husband, name unknown, had other children than the four identified. With the father dying young, this means that they had little education, and explains the different spelling for Wade. W. Ray Walker Notify Administrator about this message?
