Ray,
There is a James N. Wright in Chambers Co., Ala in 1840. I have not pursued him but it might be a clue. There are also several James Wrights various counties in Ala 1850. Do you have an approximate birthdate for him?

I was in Greene county recently looking at deed indexes for Wades(I only had about an hour)and I remember there were many deeds for Wrights. Did not make any notes on them. I did make one SMALL discovery though. There was one deed from Joshua Wade listed in index as seller (no reference to him as purchasing the land). But in the actual deed his middle initial is used several times as Joshua A. Wade. Next time I go, I want to get into the Probate office and look through estate administrations
