Benjamin Wade b 1750 VA m abt 1775 prob in SC (? female) Hamlin b abt 1750-60 d bef 1803 prob dau of Richard Hamlin, RS b 1746 in CT, & Alsey. Richard Hamlin (Sr.), RS, died Dec 1819, Jones Co., GA.

The couple were in Hancock Co.,GA and when land grants were made available; he died in 1824 in Jasper Co., GA, where he had received a land grant. (Benjamin's 2nd wife, Elizabeth L. (?) b 1766 VA was in Jasper Co., in the 1830 census.)

Benjamin and (?) Hamlin had three children:
William Louis Wade b 1775 prob SC, d 1824 Jasper Co., GA: (male)Wade b abt 1794/1804, and third Susan Wade b 1802, who was unmarried in the 1850 census of Talbot Co., GA.

We know that William L.'s son,(? Wade), name unknown was married to another Elizabeth b abt. 1799 SC. Elizabeth died in Talbot Co., between 1750-1760. this unknown male & Elizabeth had children: my ancestor James A. Wade; Wm. Franklin Wade; Columbus Washington Wade, & prob Hamlin Louis Wade (2nd) b 1815, and probably others.

All the above is to ask if someone can verify the marriage of Benjamin to the Hamlin lady, and provide her name. Richard Hamilin was identified in ancestry.com to have had a son John P. Hamlin and a daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Hamlin. Also perhaps someone would know the name of the Hamlin L. & Susan's, brother (?) Wade.

I am trying to discover what Hamlin was my ancestor, wife of Benjamin Wade, b 1750 VA. Any assistance would be appreciated. Also trying to understand where the "Louis" given name came from.

W. Ray Walker
