"Description of Coat of Arms" furnished by Paul D. Walbridge of Boston, December 18, 1883. The opening line reads " The family of Walbridge is of Saxon origin, and or great antiquity in the counties of Suffolk and Cambridge".
I was merely citing a reference sent to me on my inquiries on Walbridge. My family at one time spelt their name with two "l"s, but Zebulon Walbridge is attributed to spelling it with one: "Zebulon, as mentioned elsewhere, changed the spelling of his name, saying one "l" was enough" an excerpt from the publication Descendants of Henry Wallbridge who married Anna Amos, December 25, 1688 at Preston, Conn. compiled by William Gedney Wallbridge, Litchfield Conn, 1898.
So as you see I did have reputable sources, obviously that do not comply with yours.
