I am related to Cornelius Waldo and Hannah Cogswell from their son John who married Rebecca Adams. John's brother, Daniel Waldo, married Rebecca's sister, Susanna Adams. The Adams sisters' father was Samuel Adams, and his father was Henry Adams, who had eight boys and one girl and came over from England. Samuel's brother, Joseph, another son of Henry, is the direct line of John Adams, the President, as well as Samuel Adams of the American Revolution, with Joseph I believe being great grandfather to both. I believe John the President and Samuel of the Revolution were 2nd cousins. My genealogy program says that John Adams the president is my 3C4R or 3C5R (I can't remember offhand which). My source for most of this information on the Adams was Volume IV of American Ancestry by Joel Munsell, with verification from many other places. The Adams line is confusing to trace because there are a ton of Johns, Josephs, Henrys and Samuels and it's hard to figure out which one goes with which family. I found lots of conflicting information regarding this family on the Internet.
