Volney-Samuel Waldo (who resided near Car-Lea Saskatchewan (the town is gone now) is my maternal Great Grandfather. His wife was Nellie (Hoffman) Waldo (who came from Killarney Manitoba).
Volney's son was Forrest Raymond Waldo.
(his wife Lena Roxanna (Rowe) Waldo).
Forrest's brother: Reed Waldo
Forrest's sisters: Clara Waldo
and
Vera Waldo (who married Ike Conroy)
VERA WALDO was the woman who told my mother (Zelda Waldo)(nay - drilled it into her!!) that "you are related to Peter Waldo from Italy, the Reformist."
Vera, Clara and many on my mother's side have the darker skin tone and dark wavy hair which seems to re-occur every generation or so.
Do any of the above names sound familiar?
I have also discovered that Waldo is an Irish
name (and also German?). Volney was, appearantly, Italian.
My mother is dark and often mistook for a Greek or Italian lady.

Let me know if I haven't confuused you even more! 8^)

Genie Van Boeyen <--married name.
Mother was a Waldo, married my father, a Lyons. I married a Dutchman!
