Thank you, Roy for your response. I am aware that it is unlikely that My John William is connected to the Mississippi Waldo's. All of the censuses that I have found him on say that he was born in Indiana. Family sources (undoumented) give his birthplace as Iowa and at least one source states he was born in Spain and immigrated at a very young age to the U.S. with his parents who died when he was young. This source writes that he was raised by "distant relatives" of his mother. No surname for his mother is given. The first documented information I have found is the 1860 census where he appears in Yolo County, California at age 19. He married my ggrandmother Susannah Miller in Yolo County 1867, Was in Washington State by 1880 and immigrated to Alberta, Canada after 1910. I have a death certificate for him showing his death in Alberta in 1927. I was hoping that another of their descendants might see my post and recognize them. Thank you for responding. I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to do so.
