Hello Joy In 1881 (RG11/5362/Fol 71/page 26) Ann Ashbury was married, aged 42 born Ireland, formerly a teacher was living at 50 St Catherine’s Street, Swansea, Glamorganshire, with children Thomas Henry aged 9 born in Walsall, Staffordshire and Rose Stukley Ashbury 7 born in Swansea. There was no husband at home the night of the census & not in England either. I have looked for the name of Ashbury in Wales in 1891, there are only 4 but none of your family. In 1891 (RG12/536/fol 122/page 4) Rose S Ashbury aged 17 born Swansea was a visitor (no profession given) at the house of William H L Whittaker 24, he was a teacher at LSB School & his wife Beatrice aged 26, they were living at 3 Haden Terrace, Cartwell Road, Plumstead, Woolwich, London. There doesn’t seem to be any sign of the rest of the Ashbury family in either England or Wales. By 1901 (RG13/624/fol142/page30) Rose de Stukely Ashbury (slight change of name) aged 24 born Swansea, was a mothers help domestic for Florence Holt and her 3 children there was also a general domestic servant at the house at Alderstead Hill, Old Merstham, Reigate, Surrey. Again no sign of the rest of Rose’s family. A Rose de Stukeley Ashbury marriage was registered in Swansea Vol 11a page 1560 in the June qt 1905 to either David Jenkins or Alfred John Oborn. So their may have been family in the Swansea area as she went back there to marry. Rose Stukley birth was registered in Swansea in the June qt 1874 Vol 11a page 737. Thomas Henry Ashbury birth was registered in Walsall in the March qt 1872 Vol 6b page 689. I hoope this has been of help to you, Regards, Janice. Notify Administrator about this message?
