Looking for information about a John Wilcox who went to Peru. Also about his father, Matthew and gfather Matthew:
I am doing my family tree and I too am looking for a John and William Wilcox. John went to Peru and William worked for the train system in Wales, along with one of his brother Richard who, after retiring from the trains, ran a tavern called The Alma Inn (which still exists). Their father (a butchers) was Matthew Wilcox-Spry who (c1856)married Martha Roberts. Matthew's father was (also a butcher)also named Matthew, he married Sarah Spry. Her father was a clock maker. This last Matthew had either 2 or 3 brothers, who could have been Mark, Luke and John. The family was originally from Horditch and moved to Cardigan in the early 1800s, I beleive.
