Hi, I'm looking for anyone who is related to, or has been researching, the following family:
Evan Williams, born about 1845 in Llantrisant / Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales. Evan married Rebecca (maiden name unknown), born about 1851 in the same place as Evan.
Evan and Rebecca had the following children:
i. Daniel L., son, born abt 1874
ii. Oliver, son, born abt 1875
iii. Silas, son, born abt 1878
iv. Samuel, son, born abt 1882
v. Peter, son, born abt 1883
vi. Catharine (Cassie), daughter, born abt 1887
They lived in Merthyr Vale, a village in the Welsh county borough of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, situated on the east bank of the River Taff opposite Aberfan.
Evan's sons Dan and Sam immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's.
On a visit back to Wales, Sam met Esther Margaret Powell ('Hattie'), whom he married; they emigrated from Wales to British Columbia, Canada in 1911. I am descended from this line.
I've located Evan Williams & family in the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 Wales censuses. An 1861 census listing a young Evan looks promising, and would give me his father's name (David Williams, b 1808) but I have no evidence to confirm. (At present I do not know the names of Evan or Rebecca's parents, nor Rebecca's maiden name. I can get no further back than that 1871 census.)
