Wow!
You don't know how long I've wondered about Joseph Sr. Thank you for the information. If you send me your email address, I will send you some information that I have on him.
My ancestor was Casper H. Walkenhorst, born in Hannover between 1822-1827. Died in Cincinnati in 1882. Had nine children with wife, Catherine (Kate.)
I've long thought that Joseph and Casper may have been related because they, along with another man, F.H. Walkenhorst, were the first Walkenhorsts to settle in Cincinnati. All came at around the same time. However, due to logistics of residence and burial records I didn't think that they were brothers.
F.H. Walkenhorst and his entire family (wife + 4 kids) perished by 1872, probably of Cholera. I believe he was Casper's brother.
Hannover and Muenster are close enough that may have been cousins or something...?
Do you have any idea about Joseph Sr.'s passage to the U.S., whether he traveled with anyone?
My email address is: [email protected]
Thanks!
