A Warmath-and-Variant-Surnames Project is starting at Family Tree DNA. We believe that a Ydna project will serve to validate the research we already have, and may open up further possibilities that we can explore. Initially, our purpose was to "confirm" kinship among several lines that descend from John Henry Warmath and Willie House through their son, Thomas Warmath/Warmuth/Womath, who was born April 12, 1775, in Person Co., NC, and died May 2, 1853 in Davidson County. But we have an additional goal. It has been decided that this is also the perfect opportunity to determine if kinship exists among any of the following surnames - WARMOTH, WARMATH, WARMUTH, WOMATH, WORMATH, WARMOUTH,WORMOUTH, WORMUTH, WORMETH, WORMITH, WOMITH, WOMUTH, WOMOTH, WARMACK,-or any variant thereof. There is a great deal of speculation within the genealogical community regarding possible common origins of some of these lines. Guys, please consider joining the Ydna project. We can't do this without you! (There is no blood-letting involved; just a simple cheek swabbing.) Ladies, maybe you have a brother, father or uncle you could get to join the Ydna project. Their story is our story, too. We just can’t do the Ydna test for it. :) This could bring down that old brick wall and give us new direction for research where our paper trails have grown cold!
