Request for info, War of 1812 service

My 4th great grandfather George Reasons served in Captain John Flowers Company of N.C. Militia in the war.

I know nothing of his service, or the unit in which he served.

Does one obtain 1812 service records by contacting the National Archives in Washington D.C.?

His wife Dicey Rhodes Reasons filed a bounty land application which is how we learned George Reasons served.

George Reasons settled in Gibson County TN. where he drowned in Aug. 1842.

Any info on the above unit & man would be most appreciated.

D.M. Williams
