Too Many William Johnsons

I need Help please. My ancestor was Capt. William Johnson called (Col. William Johnson). According the book by Lodewick Hill, The Hills of Wilkes County Georgia and Related Families. My William Johnson married Nancy Hill daughter of Henry Hill. William and Nancy had John Pope Johnson married to Prudence Echols Irvin(e).
William Johnson shows receiving land bounty. Shows he served in both the Revolutionary War as well as the War of 1812. I show William Johnson born between 1741-1755 died after Jul 1821. I have no idea who his parents are or where he was born. I cannot verify which William Johnson is mine thru Revolutionary and War of 1812 records, because I have no clue as to which units he served in. I can't even narrow it down because I don't know where he was living or born to look at muster rolls. Can anyone help me? Any suggestions? Thank You.
