John Stevenson/Stephenson

Hi I am trying to find more information on a John Stevenson/Stephenson. He would have been born around 1788 in Fairfield Co SC. I have been told that he served in Capt. James Brannon's company of the South Carolina Militia. Can someone point me in the right direction on where to look? I've tried every search i can think of, with no luck.
