John Duncan SMITH - Navy, Philadelphia

Just thought I would put my ancestor's name out there and see if anyone could assist me...

My ancestor John Duncan SMITH, was in the Navy during the war of 1812. Little is known about him except he was born in Scotland. His children were born in Pennsylvania, and grew up in Philadelphia, Pa. Three of his children were: Henry Smith, William Bass Smith, and John Lauterback Smith. William and John had large families living in Philadelphia, Pa, and or Elkton, Cecil County, Maryland. Henry later moved out of the area. They were involved in ship building and iron foundry...

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Shelley
