I am interested in finding out more on the Wasinger family's from around that area. We are from Ellis. My grandfather was 17 years old when he came over here from Russia. My dad was born in Walker in 1899. His name was Nicholas (Nick) Wasinger. We are related to some Windholz's. My mother was an orphan train child. She was adopted by Antoine Hermann (not sure of the spelling) My mother's name was Eva Hermann. She said that they had a farm across the street from St. Fedalis back along time ago. Sher remembers the Capucian Monks singing in the afternoons. She is listed on the web site under "Orphan Train". I was born in Hays, but we lived in Ellis. I am 60 years old now. We moved to Wichita when I was 3 months old. I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Dad passed away in 1969 and mom passed away in 1989 at 90 years old and 2 sisters are deceased. Father Francis Wasinger wasmy first cousin. Sister Ermaline Wasinger was my aunt. Father Wasinger was a chaplain at Fort Riley when he passed away. Sister Ermaline was living in the mother house in Concordia when she passed away. There's not many of us left that I know that are related.
Thank you,
Ray Wasinger
