Thank you, G.E. Do you have the children of Austin W. & Sally Backus? I see from a post by Susan Wilson May 10, 2000 that Austin died at the home of his son Austin. The family group I got off of LDS/FS shows no son Austin unless it is the middle name of their son, Lyman A. I've been working on this FGS over the weekend and some of the children listed look fishy as on the 1880 Census Index their parents were born in Conn! I am not taking the FGS as gospel but using it to find my line, Alzina Mariah Watrous b. NY to parents b. NY. One census she was on said she was born OH, but I am wondering if she was b. NY and raised in OH. Another family that looks even more promising for me is Walter W. and Hester Smith. The Ashtabula County History, OH, says they had 14 children but only knew the names of 2 of them. The LSD/FS lists 6 children for them, so maybe they are mine! Walter and Hester have a son Walter James W. who marries Unice Mott. Walter & Unice are family names from my end and that is why I am looking hard at them. Also Walter James dies in Jackson Co., IA which is home for some of this branch of my family. Also, Warrick Co., IN is where Alzina marries William Gee in 1946 (of course!). My best guess right now is she's Walter & Hester's daughter and Walter James' little sister. Do you have families for Walter & Hester and Walter & Unice? Hubby & I spent Friday night looking thru books at FH Library for them and did find nice bios for Walter, Walter Jim, and a Lester b. CT 1789. W & WJ were listed as Watrous (Waters) and Lester as Waters. Also a nice bio of James Watrous (Watters), son of WJ. Nothing conclusive. Will move on to the Watrous Family Histories and census. I also have a Watress who marries Albert Gee (my Wm.'s bro.)26 August 1864 in Jackson Co., IA. She dies 29 Jan 1913 there. I have seen her name as Jane and Eliza Jane. I have two accounts of her parents. I think she is related to my Alzina. This family is keeping me up nights! Thanks for all of your help! Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
