Rev. Guy WATSON, b. 1833, pastor in New Orleans
I'm looking for the grave of the Rev. Guy Watson, b. 1833, in VA, to Robert and W. (Williams) WATSON.
In the early years of slavery, he excaped to Union lines and enlisted in the Navy. He was discharged in New Orleans, and joined a Free Will Baptist church, made a deacon, and later ordained (Aug. 1884) as a pastor of which he remained for years. (this from "Free Baptist Cyclopedia," pub. 1889, by Burgess and Ward.)
There is a "Guy Watson" grave in the National Cem. New Orleans, but no titles...however, bio did say he was in the Navy. Not sure if this is the same person and need help. He is in several years of New Orleans City Directories, with name/title, "Rev. Guy Watson." (I don't have Ancestry.com) to find his death date, etc.
I'm not related to this family but would like to add his name to the many minister's graves I've found from his denomination.
Any additional info about him will be appreciated.
