Antoinette, Knowing how my Knotts carry on family names I do not think in passing that my Thomas Knott is related to Andrew Knott because Andrew is not used hardly at all in following generations. I could not find it in mine at all. The girls names do not follow either.
I read about the stepson Thomas Sureat but it doesn’t seem to work. I will be looking that name up, though. Thank you for your information. Bob Knotts on the Knotts message board has a DNA test that you may be interested in, I do not have the funds or time for such an endeavor. I know that he has an Andrew Knott in his line.
I have read where my Knotts are Catholic but my gr grandfather was not even though his father and uncle are said to have been. Do you know Andrew Knott’s church background or his descendants? Did Andrew Knott have any other info recorded in Virginia? As the census numbers of folks became more numerous I started looking in only Lee County, VA because that is where Thomas as said to have been from.

Thomas Knotts is having a daughter in 1804 with Ella/Elley Young. I can find the Young’s in same census as Thomas. I do not have a birth date of Thomas but his wife is approximately born 1786. So in 1787 when they went through Andrew Knotts will, he would possibly be of age.
My Thomas Knotts migrated in 1818 to IL then died by 1821.I only have birth years on part of his children.
