John White Webster
I'm interested in the lineage and the story of John White Webster, b. 1793 to affluent Webster family (grandfather was apothecary in Boston). JWW married Harriet Hickling. He became medical doctor and was at Harvard as professor in the medical school, when he murdered Dr. Parkman. This was the first case to use forensic science for a conviction (bones of Dr. Parkman's odd jaw). John apparently cut him up and burnt the body. He was hung in boston on August 30, 1850. Still, some protest his innocence and blame his murder on the janitor of the medical school. Very interesting story.
I can't find out anything about John White Webster's family in print, though this was the crime of the century and apparently much like the OJ trial in terms of era media coverage. I know he had daughters. Harriet was daughter of Thomas Hickling and Sarah Emily Green.
Anyone know more about him, or able to speculate who the grandfather was?
