Hello Jennifer (or other Webster researchers at Yorkshire.)
I've recently been researching my Webster roots in Yorkshire England and some of the place names you mentioned are the same.
I've been able to locate Webster ancestors in Malton, and Pickering, which are mentioned in your post as well as "Old-Stead, and Cold Kirby, Halmsley.
- some of the family members immigated to Canada and other married and stayed in the Yorkshire region.
Other family names that have been married into include Fawcett or Fawcit, Harrison, Sunley,
Day,
Does any of this info ring a bell
One family of 3 children in particular from Helmsley disappeared after 1881 census and I always wondered what happened to them - William, Thomas and Elizabeth Webster - 3 children of Thomas Webster and Hanne Unknown - all born in Cold Kirby in 1849, 1850 and 1852 respectively. I was able to track them until 1881 (all single) and then they all disappeared and I was unable to locate ANY of them - strange. Any info on this
Many thanks.
