Sharline, We have emailed each other once that I can remember but both spend a lot of time on the genforum boards. Thanks for the info.I am still struggling to try and get the NC Weist/Weast/Weese tied in somewhere.Family lore from a researcher who was working on the family in the 1940s claimed they came from Adam Weese of Hamphshire Co. VA.My oldest proven link is to John Jacob Weist who married in NC in 1792.There was an Adam Weece in an adjoining county in NC at that time.He was most likely my Jacob's father or brother. That Adam Weese was born no later than 1765 but I have yet to get a good lock on his age or prove his connection to John Jacob.John Jacob Weist named his first son Adam so I think there was a definite link. There is another old family tale that may hold a clue it states that in the 1700s our family moved from VA and some went to NC and others into TN.This seems likely as the oldest known NC Weece was not that far away from the TN line (my were a little further East). But I have seen info about 2 Hampshire Weese seems it was David & Peter?Who filed Am. Rev. pensions from TN.This scenario seems to hold water but I have no proven records yet to back it up.If you are aware of any info regarding the origins/life of the Adams in VA please let me know.I do intend to get back to the microfilm and try to find other Weiss records to post. Many Thanks, Sharon
