Glen Weber and I have been discussing this "mysterious" Weikal for years now but just recently I heard from him and I did a search on all the census records at my disposal.Although it didn't help me determine who he is, this is what I found:
In the 1850 Census for William Weikal and Mary Ann Ketner, there is a "C Wikel", female, listed that is one year old -- however, Ellen Jane was born in 1949 so I'm pretty sure that's her.Joseph Clinton would be 5 at the time and doesn't fit into the census that I have on William & Mary Ann Ketner. In 1870, JC is married to "Mary A." and has two kids living in Cherrytree township, Venango. In 1880, he is married and living in Venango County.Who are the Poes living with him in Iowa in 1885?In 1895, he is in Iowa but I can't see the census to see who is with him. In 1910 and 1900, his wife is still alive and they are living in Illinois. In 1920, he's living with his son, Frank in Illinois.I just can't find him listed anywhere during 1850 or 1860.He is an absolute mystery to me.
If you can turn up a maiden name for Joseph C's wife, maybe I can tie him in somewhere.
Gwen
