Family History success!
Dear All
Just to let you know that I am still interested in hearing any info you may have on Wetherells from the Durham area in the North of England.I am also fascinated by the info flying around on this site!
Last week I attended a service at my University (Manchester, UK) when the name of my great-uncle a Sydney Wetherell was unveiled as part of a plaque commemorating the University's war dead from WW2.When this plaque was unveiled I was standing next to his daughter - who had never met her father as he was away for the whole of her life.By conincidence and due entirely to my searching into my family's history we made contact just weeks before thisevent! Her father and my grandfather were estranged brothers who just never got on and she had no idea that my father and his brothers and sisters even existed - let alone me!
57 years after his death at the same University as he attended in the 1930s I met a new branch of my family - through a series of conincidences!!
Just thought this page might be interested to hear some real-live family history as we spend a lot of time looking into the past on our own!We are both going to carry on with our family history study together now!
Yours Dee :-)
