Sandra Wheat was Sandra Sue Black from the Detroit area, who lived in Coral Gables, Fla., as a teenager and college student at the University of Miami.
From what I'm told, my mother, Sandra, was only briefly married to James Leonard Wheat because of an unexpected pregnancy (me). They were quickly divorced in the year that I was born (1954), all this orchestrated by Wheat's mother to keep things on the up and up, bless her heart.
Sandra Black was the ward of Dr. Parke Smith of Coral Gables and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Divorced, Sandra Black married Robert C. Abel Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (lawyer, judge). They raised Glenn Abel (me) under Robert's last name, although it was never legally changed from Wheat. They divorced in the early 1980s.
Sandra died in Hialeah in 1998 and Robert died in Fort Lauderdale in 2000.
Glenn Abel's children are Holly Suzanne Abel and Nicholas Theodore Abel. They were born in Los Angeles ('91/'92), where Glenn Abel lives as of this writing.
I would be interested in knowing more about James Leonard Wheat, especially cause of death, he was quite young.
