Hello Suzanne,
I am also interested in sharing information. I have not researched this family in a while and would have to refresh my memory on many aspects. I descend from Reuben Wheeless (many spellings) who married Sarah Ann Maddox in Morgan Co., GA. I know that his two siblings also married Maddox siblings. Thomas Maddox married Minerva Wheeless and Marlin Durham Wheeless married Rebecca Maddox. I have never been able to find any records of any more Wheeless siblings than these three.
Reuben and Sarah had several children one of whom was Permelia Wheeless. Permelia married Sidney Ralph Harris in Columbia Co., AR. Sidney was the son of Samuel Harris, who in turn was the son of Ralph Harris. Ralph died in Morgan Co., GA Most of the Harris, Maddox and Wheeless families moved to Meriwether Co., GA around 1832. In 1849 a wagon train left Meriwether Co. to go to TX. Reuben Wheeless's family and some of the Harris families were on that train. Reuben was in Claiborne Parish, LA at the 1850 census. Samuel Harris was in Lafayette Co., AR in 1850.
I know that the Marlin Wheeless and Thomas Maddox families stayed in Meriwether Co., GA. I have been in touch with a couple of people who descend from Marlin Wheeless and have information on his descendants.
I don't have as much information on the siblings of the Maddox spouses, although I do have some information on their ancestors.
I will gladly share what information I have.
