I found your Charlie on the 1910 census as follows: 1910 U.S. Census, Murphy Gulch, Sheridan Co., WY, p. 8 140 142 Stover, Arnold R Head M W 35 M1 6 Denmark Denmark Denmark Farmer -- Jensine Wife F W 27 M1 6 Denmark Denmark Denmark None -- Charlie Adopted Son M W 5 S Wyoming Un[known] Un[known] None I then searched back in 1900 to see if there were any Whitneys living in the same county. There was only one: 1900 U.S. Census, Dayton, Sheridan Co., WY, p. 12 241 243 Whitney, Edward Head W M Jan 1870 30 S Missouri New York New York Prospector Although this will of course need to be checked, it just may be that this prospector married and had a child who was then adopted. Check to see if any death records exist for Edward Whitney in this county between 1905 & 1910. For a moment I got excited because there was a Maud living just two doors from Edward Whitney in 1900, but she would have been only 10 years old when Charlie was born, so not his mother. If you verify that Edward is Charlie's father, we can start to search for his family. He may have been the 10 year old Edwin B. Whitney, b. MO, parents b. NY, son of Stephen & Melissa Whitney who was enumerated in Republican City, Harlan Co., NE in 1880. Tim Doyle Notify Administrator about this message?
