Whyte vs Whytsyde
I am currently explorign the Scot connections of the surname Whiteside and its many versions (Quysyde, Whytsyde, Whitside, Whitesides). Both the English White and the Scot Whyte seem to be very popular surnames with multiple origins. It would appear the Whytes come from many place, mostly in Scotland. Both the Whyte and the Whiteside surnames have an high concentration in Renfrowshire, Lanarkshire and Glasgow. My Whitesides appeared in Ontario in the early 1800s coninciding with a large Scott emigration, a great many from the Paisley area.I am looking for a few male Whytes to participate in a Surname yDNA study (http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_det.asp?group=Whiteside).Maybe a Whyte would like to start a new surname yDNA study for the Whytes or maybe a few of you would like to join our study.I am especially interested in Whytes that are able to trace their early origins to old Strathclyde.Warren Whiteside is the Whiteside Surname project owner and hosts our data at http://members.delaware.net/~warrenwhiteside/Whitesidepg1.htmhttp://members.delaware.net/~warrenwhiteside/Whitesidepg1.htm.
