Evan Family Bible/ Family possibly lived in Waupun at one time

My gg grandmother was Mary Ellen Evans, born March 14, 1860 in Prospect, NY. She died in Rome, NY on May 25, 1952. She was married to William J. Owens. I have an Evans Family Bible with the following:

John Evans born 2/11/1828
W. Hugh born 3/25/1830
Hannah born 6/20/1835
Daniel born 12/17/1845
Harriet born 8/25/1853

Mary Ellen’s father was reported to be John, although I haven’t been able to verify. (The death certificate lists her parents as “unknown”). The John listed in the Bible may be her father, or may not. I also found a scrap of paper in Mary Ellen’s handwriting (so my mother believes anyway) with the following: “Dear brother Edward died 20 of March, buried Monday 23, 1910” (or 1916, writing is not clear).

Also have a professional photo possibly of John or his father taken in Waupun, Wis. The Evans may have lived there at one time. You don’t usually get a professional photo is you’re just passing through.

So far, the Evans family has been a tough nut to crack. I haven’t been able to find them in the census; I believe the name is too common.

Do any of these names and dates ring a bell with you? Thank you…

Richard Owens
