I am descended from one of Mary Shafer's sisters: Catharina Lea Shafer who married Stephen Tibbetts 1 Jan 1834 in Jefferson Co., PA. They moved to Dunn Co., Wisc along with many of the Shafer children. Their parents are Jacob Shafer and Mary Magdalena Walborn, both of Berks Co., PA. They had many of their children in Centre Co., PA and then moved on to Jefferson Co., PA where Jacob and Mary are buried as well as son Henry Shafer. I know that Mary Walborn's parents are Michael Peter Walborn and Catherine Seibert; but I am not sure of Jacob Shafer's parentage. Too many Shafers!
In my notes I have that Mary S. Shafer was born whle her mother was caring for the aged father in law. That Mary S. Shafer died of pneumonia and had moved to Weston in 1875.
Do you have some clues as to the Shafer lineage?
