Thank you, Gloria, for your time. Actually I knew and forgot about those results. I had found them on the microfilm for the Town of Calumet. Unfortunately the results are incorrect. For some reason the enumerator used the info for the household of Robert's father Gottlob (except the householder's name). Gottlob could not speak English according to another census. Perhaps Robert was visiting, giving the info, and the name was inadvertently used for his father. I guess that Robert's own family may remain one of the "missing in action" in the 1880 census. It's times like these that one really regrets the loss of the 1890 census. Robert would be about 35 in 1880. His wife is Emilie and he had at least two daughters and possibly at least one son (Edward). One report has son Otto G as being born in Rosendale in 1881. Robert is still listed in the 1875 census (as his father is) and the 1876 Fond du Lac county centennial directory. Sometime after that he settled in Adams County.
