"I am trying to locate Metomen, Fond du Lac County, in WI.
I can find it in the 1870 census. Do you know if it merged with another town? I think it was near Ripon."
Joanne, Metomen was never a community. It was essentially a railroad stop and post office on the RR line between Brandon and Ripon. In addition to the post office there were several stores and nearby churches. Although the timeline is not clear to me, it replaced an informal earlier community named Reeds Corners.
