The Metomen you found in the census is the Town of Metomen, not the community. This town is at the far west end of Fond du Lac county. In Wisconsin a "Town" usually refers to a township. When the census sheet is headed "Town of ..." it always refers to a township.
Bob gives a link in his reply which also has a little map showing the location of the different communities in it. Among them are Brandon and Fairwater, both of which have historical societies (links to them at http://www.wlhn.org/fond_du_lac/fdl_co.htm)
