I'm trying to try to find some proof that my great-grandparents, Trowbridge [aka Trobridge] Nichols and Hattie Dora Amanda Sorn [aka Zorn], were married. Both of their obits agree on 13 Aug 1871 as the marriage date; Hattie's specifies Brodhead, WI, as the place. Green County records duly note the marriages of Trowbridge's half-sister, Adelia [to William Hawkins, 07 Feb 1869], his sister Ada [to David Kline, 01 Jan 1882], their sister Mary [to Joseph Newcomer, 01 May 1873] and brother Asa Nichols Jr. [to Clara Hawkins, 08 Aug 1880]. However, I couldn't find Trowbridge & Hattie's marriage on the LDS microfilm even though I cranked it back and forth until my eyes started to cross. Did I still miss it? Are some Green County marriage records known to be missing? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Any responses from unknown "cousins" would be great. -------------------- FYI: Trowbridge, Ada, Mary, Asa Jr., and their youngest sister, Katherine were the children of of Asa Corbin Nichols, Sr., and Rosella Niles who moved from Illinois to Spring Grove sometime before 1860. Although married as a Nichols, Adelia was the daughter of Rosella and her first husband, Michael Herron. By 1880, Joseph and Mary [Nichols] Newcomer had moved to Lincoln, NE. The rest of the extended Nichols family remained Green County until about 1882 when they ALL packed up and headed south, eventually settling in or around Hamilton Co., NE.
