There is a problem with his birth year, the WWI reg index says 1888, and his death index says 1883. I see by the census below, he married abt 1926. Have you tried to get his marriage record? I would suspect he married in Jefferson Co.,KY given he was there in 1920, and 1930 and she was born in KY....Have you gotten his original SS aplication? If you pay for the long version, it would potentially have his parents names, a verification of birth date and location and more. You can order from SS.
