Can anyone shed any light on a Murder that is said to have happened in Racine, Wisconsin, June 1902. I am trying to trace information on Joseph Minett who pleaded guilty to the murder of John Mulaney of Waterford. Was Joseph Minett from England or was he born in USA? My Gt Granfather was a Joseph James Minett born in Islington, London 19th Sept 1855 to Alphonus Frederick Minett and his wife Sophia.(nee Cooke). Alphonus ran away when a young man to avoid emigrating to USA, which his own father and siblings did around 1844. I have traced some of the siblings on the census (Even found that Henry Minett 1957 - 1952 Officer of the US Navy was son to Alphonus brother Decimus) so we had a strong USA connection for Joseph to run away too.. Joseph married in 1877 in Islington to Eleanor Sears Robinson, and they had 4 known children. The first one not named in 1878. Then Sophia 1879, Joseph Frederick 1884 and Alfonso George Edward 1886. Alfonso is my Grandfather, and was going to tell Mum what happened, but due to his own sudden death, the story went to his grave with him. Mum sadly passed away Jan 27 2006 age 94 never knowing what happened to her Grandfather, now we his Great Grandaughters are trying to piece the story to gether, with nothing to go on. Whatever Joseph did, it was a disgrace to the family, so much so, when his own father died in 1896 he left everything to Joseph's wife Eleanor, and nothing to Joseph or his siblings. So was this poor man so overwrought that it drove him to violence and Murder of an innocent man??????? What does the rest of this paper cutting found on GenealogyBank say.......
