Accident and Death
Sunday morning, Mr. L.M. Appley, of Delhi, met with an accident that caused his death Tuesday morning, 46 hours afterward. He has been in the habit of tying his cow in the lot, using an iron bar as a hitching stake. Sunday morning he went out to change her to a different spot in the field. He drew the bar out of the ground and stood it up against a tree, but it fell toward him, striking him in the bowels. Slight as the blow appeared, he felt the effects of it at once. He went to the house, and Dr. McCall was sent for immediately. By the request of Dr. McCall, Dr. Loop was also called at a later period, but nothing could be done for the unfortunate man, and he died Tuesday morning.
