Omro Weekly Oct. 26, 1876 p. 3 An Inhuman Monster. The most inhuman monster in human form that we have heard of in these parts, is named Fred Freese, and he lives in Rushford. A week ago last Saturday, he was firing some straw piles, and his little boy of 12 years, was playing around near him. At length the lad set fire to a little heap of straw, and the monster of a father became so enraged that he caught the little fellow, and thrusting him into the flames, held him there until one side of his face was burned to a blister, and the eye lashes completely burned off. The boy screamed for help, and the brute stuffed the burning straw into his mouth to stop his cries. He finally released the poor lad, who ran to the house. On the following day, he called the boy to him to see how badly he was burned, and after looking him over, he gave the boy a kick that fairly lifted him from the floor, saying, D--n you! I wish it had burned you up. On the same day, he set the boy to watching a gap in the fence, and because the poor, burned child allowed cattle to get through, he knocked him down with a club. These facts coming to light, the brute was arrested by Constable Smith, last week Wednesday, and held for trial. Somebody, we don't know who, went bail for the prisoner.
