Omro Weekly Journal May 16, 1878 p. 3 Death of Mr. Baker. Mr. M. Baker, who has been sick a long time, died at his home on the north side of the river Tuesday night. Mr. Baker has been laboring under chronic diarrhea, contracted in the army, for many years, and lived until he became a mere skeleton with camparatively nothing but skin over his bones. A post mortem examination revealed a very extensive disease both of the large and small intestines--an inflammation, contraction and thickening, with ulceration of the lining membrane; also congestion of the blood vessels of the mesentery and enlargement of its glands.
