Thanks Gene,
Dorcus Festerman and Samuel M. Cocke...& their four children were Henry Cocke, James A. Cocke, Samuel Cocke, Leo Cocke...
(Leo died about 20th yrs old)...
Samuel M. Cocke was my g/grandfather, his son, James A. Cocke was my grandfather...
Dorcus died in Jan 1880...and by the time the census for Tate CO, MS was taken...Samuel was married to "Jenny". She was the widow, Elizabeth Eloise "WICKS" and had four children by Mr.Wicks...When my grandfather died in 1896 he left everything to his wife, E.E. Cocke...
I have the will and the papers she signed...I have found that Jenny was a "MOTHERSHED" before her marriage to Wicks.
I have the name, and will try to find and give that to you.
I am interested in finding if there were children by my greatgrandfather and Jenny...since they were married for some approx 15-16 years...
I would like to find the marriage record for Samuel M.Cocke and Mrs. E.E. Wicks...Also, in an article on my Cockes,
there was mention that James Alexander Cocke married a Mothershed woman...James A's first wife "Lizzie", Malissa
Patman...died in late 1879, possibly, Nov...having given birth to a daughter in Sept 1879... On the 1880 census James is shown as being a widow...with a few mos old baby...He was living with his older bro's family...
James A. married Martha J. Goode in 1885, in Tate Co, MS, and they were in Pike Co, AR, by 1900...with his daugh, by his first wife, "Lizzie",(Jane Alvin) and five children by Martha...On that 1900 census, questions were asked, How many times married? James, had 3 times married, Martha, had 2 times married...
I am wondering if James could have married a younger sister of his "stepmother, Jenny"...needing a mother for his motherless child...No facts for this...but, haven't found another marriage for James...
Thanks for your reply...and I will appreciate any help...
