Susanna (Phillips) Willhite died June 27, 1851 as shown by the Willhite family record. She did not have a daughter Elizabeth and she did not have a daughter Malinda. All of Susanna and Claiborne Willhite's children are accounted for in their family record.
Following Susannah (Phillips) Willhite's death, Claiborne Willhite married Jane Lowery, widow of Henry Lowery. You will find Henry and Jane Lowery in the 1850 Census.Jane Lowery had a number of children by her first husband, Henry Lowery. These children are found with Claiborne Willhite in the 1860 Census, as he had married their mother, Jane Lowery.Although the census taker showed them as Willhite, they were actually Lowerys.
Claiborne Willhite and his second wife, Jane Lowery, had Caldona, Frances, and Richard Willhite. Those are the only children I know of from the second marriage.
It has been said that there wasn't any love lost between the children of Claiborne's first marriage and his second wife.
