Mr. Wright-
It's amazing you can make so many twisted, undocumented and false statements and try to pass them off as true.
There is absolutely no marriage record for Hannah Conger to Nicholas Ross in 1776. The ONLY Nicholas Ross named in any record of Mecklenburg, Rowan, Cabarrus or Iredell county was the Nicholas Ross who died between 1767 and 1774 in Mecklenburg County, NC (Will Bk. F-112).
If you have PROOF of your claim that Hannah Conger married Nicholas Ross in 1776 - provide it instead of just blabbing about something you made up and never happened.
Nicholas Ross' wife was named Elizabeth and his two daughters were Hannah Ross and Jane Ross (all named in his 1767 will). The executors of Nicholas/Nicholason Ross' will were Jonathan Conger and Arthur Brown Ross. Some of the people who purchased items at the estate sale of Nicholas Ross were: John Conger, Jonathan Conger, Zaccheus Wilson, Arthur Brown Ross, Isaac Ross and Jacob Randle
Jane Ross, daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Ross was named in both the will of her grandfather, John Conger Sr. (1784) and her father's will Nicholas Ross (1767). Jane Ross was the mother of Rev. Nicholas Ross Morgan who was born 10 Aug 1789. Rev. Morgan was not confused about who his mother was and stated after Nicholas Ross died, his widow Elizabeth married Zacheus Wilson, and together they had two sons, John and Jonathan Wilson.
You wrote-
"Then their sister Hannah Conger had married Nicholas Ross ca.1776 who is named as his grand-daughter ‘Jean’ Ross named in his will. The Ross children’s father Nicholas Ross senior’ had died October 1767 however his then children become confused when writings by Layman Draper Manuscript Papers concerning the riding accident in the article of Rowan County but confused the issues, when writing about it later."
+ + + + + What are you saying? are you implying there are two men named Nicholas Ross, Jr. and Sr, and two girls named Hannah Ross and two girls named Jane Ross? Do you have proof for this statement, or is this something you dreamed up. There is only one Nicholas/Nicholason Ross and he is the one who purchased land in Mecklenburg County on Caldwells Creek in 1765 (Deed Bk.2, p.633) and died between 1767 and 1774. This man's wife was named Elizabeth and his two daughters were Hannah Ross and Jane Ross.
Rev. Nicholas Ross Morgan wrote in his letters to Lyman Draper in 1875 that his aunt Hannah Ross married Mathew Harris. Mathew Harris and wife Hannah of Green Co. GA sold a portion of the Caldwell Cr. property in 1789. (Deed Bk. 13, p. 728) Hannah Ross Morgan died 1827 in Greene Co. GA
The will of John Conger Sr. (1784) directed that his three daughters (Phoebe Randle, Sarah Rounsvall and Hannah Ross) and his granddaughter Jane Ross, daughter of Nicholas Ross were to receive equal shares. Why would a granddaughter received a share equal to her mother, if her mother was still living. It seems likely John Conger's bequeath to his granddaughter indicates Jane Ross' mother (Elizabeth Conger Ross) was deceased and consequently her daughter Jane Ross, who was still unmarried, was to receive her mother's share equal to her sisters Pheobe, Sarah and Hannah.
Since you have now become a Conger and Ross Family expert, I'm sure the Ross and Conger descendanats will enjoy your new version of the genealogy of their families. Regardless of what you claim, the children of John Conger and Zipporah Moores, are as follows:
1. Jonathan Conger (the oldest son) born 22 Jan 1732, died 7 May 1793 Rowan County NC, married Euphenia Ross. His two sons-in-law Daniel Biles (m. Jean Conger 30 Dec 1775) and Joseph Nichols (m. Elizbeth Conger 16 Sep 1784) were administrators of his estate August 1793 Rowan County, NC. *Note: Joseph Nichols was alive in 1793 and did not die in 1787 as YOU claim.
David Biles (son-in-law) died between September 1834 and Feb 1835 in Rowan County, NC. His children were sons, Thomas, Jonathan, James, Joseph, Charles, William, John, Daniel Ross, and daughters, Uphamey Biles, Jane Boyd and Phoebe Brown w/o Moses. (Rowan Co. Will Bk. H, p. 666) Apparently his wife Jean/Jane Conger was decesed and not named in the will.
Joseph Nichols (son-in-law) died January 1826 in Rutherford County, TN wife Elizabeth and children: Euphemia Tomlinson, Elizabeth Davis, Jane, Phoebe, Abigail, Lavinia and sons, Joshua Nichols and Jonathan Nichols. (Rutherford Co. Will Bk.6-182)
I'm sure Jonathan Conger and Euphemia Ross had other children but these two sons-in-law mentioned above as administrators present the evidence that Mr. Wright is WRONG when he stated Joseph Nichols died in 1787 and his widow Elizabeth Conger Nichols married Zaccheus Wilson.
2. John Conger (younger son) born about 1734 married Mary Ross 5 Jun 1769, and died 1806 Smith Co. TN. His second wife was Judith (?Runyon married Feb 1795, possibly widow Judea Owens) John Conger's daughter was Elizabeth born 1771 who married Stephen Cole 27 Oct 1789 Rowan Co. NC
3. Phoebe Conger married Jacob Randle/ Randall (he died Feb 1806 York Co. SC).
4. Sarah Conger married David Rounsaval
5. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Conger born about 1742 married Nicholas Ross, who died between 1767 and 1774 Mecklenburg County, NC. (Will F, p.112) She married (2) Zaccheus Wilson, the Signer and Surveyor.
Elizabeth Conger Ross' daughter was Jane Ross Morgan the mother of Rev. Nicholas Ross Morgan. Jane Ross was the granddaughter mentioned in John Conger Sr.'s Will 1784. Zaccheus Wilson was the step-father of Jane and Hannah Ross and when Zaccheus Wilson moved to Tennessee in 1796 both of his step daughters were married and mothers.
6. Hannah Conger born 5 Feb 1747, died 15 April 1821 Jefferson Co. MS. She married Arthur Brown Ross.
You can write any fairy tale you want and put it in your book, but in the end everyone will have a good laugh, but also be mad having been deceived and wasting their money. Be prepared to receive critical reviews.
THE ONLY person who is confused is you, Mr. Wright. You need to get your blinders off and do some actual research. If you can't understand what you write is undocumented fiction, then you're worse off than I thought.
